Unlike the Hoyts,
Village, Palace, commercial Cinema operators, the Port Fairy Film Society is a
community group of non-professional volunteer film lovers who decided to
continue to show films in Port Fairy, after the private operator decided it was
not viable to continue.
Whilst anyone who buys a ticket, can
come to the public, ticketed admission, 14 Community Fundraiser films, Film
Festivals and 21 Summer Movies that are also shown in Port Fairy, the Film Distributors do not allow
non-members to attend Film Society screenings.
In 2012-13, the PFFS will face greater
costs for its screenings and the probability we may have to significantly
upgrade our digital projection systems, as most 35mm film will be phased out by
the end of 2012. Only limited imported prints will be available.
Consequently, the PFFS has increased its
Membership fees, for the first time since 2004.
In 2012, the Port Fairy Film Society has
12 monthly 3rd Friday films and eight 4th Tuesday Classic
Film Matinees (Feb-May and Aug-Nov).
2011 PFFS
memberships are valid until February 2012.
2012 PFFS
memberships are valid until February 2013.
We sell annual ($110/90),
6 ($55/45), a minimum 3 ($30/24) memberships at the Reardon Theatre prior to our
screenings.
The PFFS membership
comes with bonus 8, 2, 1 Classic Tuesday matinee sessions (Feb-May and Aug-Nov).
To become a member of the Film Society,
like any club, we will need your name and address, if you wish to see our films.
If you are a Visitor to Port Fairy, we
will allow you to part (half)pay for your minimum annual membership, with the
balance to be paid when you return.
